Playing Catchup, days 2-6

I am full of unfulfilled promises. For that I am sorry. But here in quick succession are days 2-6 of my month-of-blogging-getting-to-know-me-stuff.
2. Favorite Movie - Movie I've watched the most times, Aladdin. But a non-cartoon favorite? Taken or Mean Girls
3. Favorite TV program - Modern Family and Grey's Anatomy
4. Favorite book - The English Patient/Harry Potters 5 & 7
5. Favorite quote - I'm going to pick 3 because they're all in different categories. And I haven't picked just one answer for any of these favorites, so why start now?

a) "Small gestures were enough for him. One bullet ended the war."

So I pick this one because it comes from the most beautiful book I've ever read. The English Patient is written in prose so the whole book moves like a long poem. It's disjointed and artistic and I have to admit, I wouldn't have made it through the book if it weren't required reading in my senior English class. Bless Mrs. Sherman for teaching me to love it. There are so many quotes that I love, and so many more that the romantic senior girl in me loved, but this I think is the most artistic quote that sits artistically in the middle of a paragraph. This quote is therefore dubbed my "artistic" quote.

b) "Watching the news! Again?"

Obviously I love Harry Potter, and obviously I'm going to pick a quote from my other favorite book in the world. I just love this exchange that takes place at the beginning of book 5. I think it just shows how good a writer JK Rowling is. This quote just makes me happy. Consider it my "Happy" quote.

c) "Real adults don't have summer. Start acting like an adult."

Sassy 17 year old Kendall remembered and wrote down this quote because it was so ridiculous at the time. However, now that it's stayed on my Facebook page for the last 4 years it has become a part of me and my relationship with my dad. He's always pushed me to work hard, and I never realized what a blessing it is to know how to work hard until this year. (don't mind my bragging moment) Even though I don't exactly work hard at school, I feel my work life has been characterized by hard work, and by trying to exceed expectations. It's been relatively easy for me to get jobs and I thank my Dad for teaching me how to work. This is my "Life Lesson" quote.

6. Whatever tickles my fancy
This one's a little difficult. I haven't done the tickling fancy until recently. I've been considering writing blogs about switching from name brand to store brand products (snore bore, I know) for anyone who's interested. I'll just let you know about two of my successful switches.

A) I've been a faithful user of Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning lotion for around 4 years. I love it. However, the price is getting a little high for me, so I decided to switch to the Target "Up & Up" brand. I think it's great with just one exception -- it smells stronger. I don't necessarily like it, but I think the $2 price different makes up for a somewhat stronger/faker smell. Boring post #1

VS.

B) I love the blue Moisturizer Chapstick. It's sorta minty and not at all bleck like the regular Chapstick (sorry Dad and Mal). I switched to the Target Up & Up Moisturizing Chapstick and I love it. It's exactly the same and more than a dollar cheaper. I think a 3 pack is $2 or so at my SuperTarget. Good change.

Yes, I realize it's been a little long since I last blogged. Or read blogs...but in my defense, it's been a craaazy week. A good week, but crazy nonetheless.

Mallory was here from Saturday to Tuesday afternoon, and we had such a fun time! I reeeeally liked having her here. That was definitely the highlight of my week, not including last night.
I sprained my ankle last week, which made it difficult to walk around, thankful for Mallory to be my crutch, and for yan, rach, josh, sami and beaki giving me rides to school every day of the week. I had to take four tests last week, none of which I had studied much for because I was having waaaay too much fun with Mallory and Josh. Somehow I made it through the week, now I've got the rapidly disappearing weekend to study for my anatomy midterm II.

Yesterday I was blessed enough to watch Giada on the Food Network, my favorite channel in existence. She made some really nice looking chicken stuffed with cheese and sage....I can feel the Italian (DISCLAIMER: I'm not really Italian) coming out in my blood already. The only bummer with everything Food Network is that nearly everything that looks good is made with alcohol. There are multiple problems with this, a) Alcohol might be against the word of wisdom?? At least, last time I checked it was, b) I am under 21, don't want to get a fake ID to buy alcohol for baking, don't want keith mars to bust me for owning some, and c) It might be against the honor code to have some in my house...I don't think BYU would be too happy.
I guess in the mean time I'll have to stick to a different show that doesn't use alcohol. Good thing I really hate Sandra Lee and her semi-homemade alcoholic ways. Yeah, I watched the Food Network all summer.

I am now watching the most horrible show with host Alton Brown. He really is the anti-christ. annoying in every single way. However, he said something I can respect, "Stuffing. Is. Evil." Apparently, it's brilliant at breeding Salmonella. It's also a good idea to simply stuff the turkey with some sage, apple, onions, and cinnamon for flavor. I like that idea.

I'm in love with the Food Network.

Last night was the night of British movies. I got to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the Varsity Theatre with Joshua. I absolutely love that movie, but I think the audience was insane?? Everything was just a little bit too funny, and a little bit too dramatic. I also love Ron Weasley, and am extremely lucky to have my own personal one. After that movie we went to Josh's home and watched The Queen with Greg, Adam, and Emma. It was quite the interesting experience because I know absolutely nothing about Princess Diana and England (don't tell anyone).

WHOA!

Sweet guys, I have 16 blogs so far for the month of July, and there have only been 13 days. Considering I don't even blog on weekends, this is pretty cool.

I am still obsessed with that Harry Potter movie. Every time I close my eyes I see something from that movie! I can barely contain myself, I want the 7th book to come out so badly. Today I read on my handy Google addition 'Mugglenet Headlines' that JK Rowling said that some people are going to "absolutely loathe" the 7th book. Since the last book I have been a strong believer that Harry will die in the 7th book, but hearing JK say that nearly brought me to tears. Sometimes I hate loving books so much.

I also can't stop laughing to myself about the crazy roomate blog. Thank you, Becki! We should go to Canadia.

I started Gchatting it up. Thanks Nat for letting me talk to you about Harry Potter as much as I want.

I'm leaving work in an hour to go camping. What an awesome day.

Harry. Potter. was. amazing.

There are no words to describe how much I love this movie! AH! The directing was amazing, I was completely scared in the first 10 minutes of the movie. I am soo happy the director for this one is staying for the next movie because honestly, this movie was by far the best of all 5. Yes, Order of the Phoenix had a lot of bad potential, considering I've read the book upwards of 15 times, but I was not disappointed.
It was never long, and it was never boring. The writing was fantastic, and I got some pretty good laughs in. Ron was by far my favorite character in the movie, followed by Hermione. Ginny started to be pretty! ARGH! I want to watch it again.

I guess my only suggestion would be not to read the book before you see the movie, as it does skip out on loads of fun details. Most of the time though, I was never disappointed with the loss of all that great stuff, because I can read the book for it. Sorry this is a boring blog, but seriously, go see the movie. I laughed, I cried (not kidding), and was scared out of my wits(more than once), and left the theatre feeling sufficiently satisfied.

A depressing start.

There was not one update this morning on the blogging front.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Oh, today I have many things to post about, but of course, I'm going to forget them all because I am now in the process of writing a blog!

1. Last night I had a wonderful dream. Stephanie Hieb and I were leaving school (high school and no, it's not a nightmare) and decided to go to the new NBC studio right across the street. Everyone was waiting in line to get into a show or something and Steph and I persused the gift shop when I saw JOHN KRASINSKI. Blah blah blah, we all ended up talking and sat down to eat something in the Cafe, Dad showed up, Stephanie turned into Becki, and dearest John said he had tickets to some restaraunt in this amazing high rise building that looked out over New York City (we were in NYC at this point) and he invited the three of us. I'm pretty sure John liked me. goooood dream.

2. Harry Potter comes out tomorrow night. I am excrutatingly excited to go see it. I mean, HARRY POTTER! Another plus on this Harry Potter mania is that articles about the HP people come out, and I have read 4 articles from People and E! about my Harry Potter obsessions. However, this article is disgusting.

3. I have a lot of work to do and no motivation to do it. Blast.
